Direct Payments

The service supports people who are, or who wish to be in receipt of Direct Payments.

Direct Payments are paid by the Local Authority to enable people to buy the care they need directly. This gives people more control over who provides their care and when. Many people who receive Direct Payments choose to employ their own personal assistants, others purchase care from agencies.


Our advocates will support you with any issues or concerns you have about Direct Payments and will also help people who have been refused Direct Payments.
Our advocates can support you in receiving an assessment from social services for Direct Payments. 

They can also help/support you with the following:

  • Guidance regarding the process of Direct Payments
  • Guidance on your responsibilities as an employer
  • Help with the initial paperwork
  • Support with contracts for the employment of Personal Assistants
  • On going guidance when required regarding all aspects of Direct Payments
  • Help you understand the financial responsibilities/implications

Wired staff can visit you in your own homes or at a suitable venue.
